Interview with the Decorator: Lizzy Queen
Introduce yourself, tell us how long you’ve played Tibia and when did your decoration adventure start.
Hello, my name is Lizeth, but I go by Lizzy Queen, I am from Tamaulipas, Mexico. I started playing tibia when I was 12 years old, currently I am 27 years old.
I have been decorating my houses for around 3 years and 16 months, offering a decoration service. I had a house before that, but I did not decorate often, so we could say that I have 3 years and 16 months offering my decoration services constantly.
What made house decoration your passion?
I would decorate only my houses, but in March 2022, a player asked me to decorate his house for Tibia Coins. Since then, I have been offering my decorations services, besides selling Tibia Coins.
But in the same year, in July, a TibiaHome.com contest took my passion for decoration to the next level. The challenge was to decorate with only 2 colors! I chose pink and light blue, I made a flamingo and the sea. My decoration made me win 2nd place in this contest! ❤️️ I never thought I could create pictures like this one.
What role do you think house decoration plays in enhancing the overall gaming experience for Tibia players?
The houses in Tibia have many benefits, decorating them allows us as players to take advantage of exercise dummies, rewards, beds, etc. Also, decorating houses helps personalize our homes according to our needs, we create our own cozy place, and of course, we have a place to exhibit our achievements, such as rare and fansite items, among others.
What advice would you give someone who would like to start decorating?
- Please do not sell all the items you loot, haha!
- Experience with the items, create combinations and keep the outcome you prefer,
- Follow pages like @TibiaDecorations and @TibiaHome to learn decoration tips.
Do you have any habits or tricks that help you create a decoration?
I have a catalog of decorations that I have made, divided into different themes. I always ask my clients to take a look at it so that they can pick the type of decoration they are interested in, whether it is by color scheme or game area… I also give them the option to allow me to experiment. For example, if the player wanted red and blue colors, I think of suggesting a fire and frost theme.
Are there any items, objects, Tibia Store decorations that you can’t imagine your decoration without?
Yes!!! I cannot imagine my decorations without glowing colorful items, like Giant Sapphire, Giant Amethyst, Giant Ruby, Giant Topaz, Lit Mirror, Frozen Starlight, and Green Light. When I have to decorate on servers where these items are not available on the market, or when the owners do not have them, I always complain, hahaha. Because these items simply highlight the whole house decoration when they glow.
What kind of decorating do you prefer? Creating traditional decorations, arranging rooms in your house, or creating a variety of shapes and images using different objects?
The traditional ones are the ones that I get asked for the most; also, they ask me to expose rare items, combinations of colors, and more.
I like both types of decorations, but in my house, I prefer to experiment and make images by putting certain items together. One day I was bored, and I tried to create a minion, hahaha. These are challenges to me, and they allow me to improve my decoration skills.
Do you have any of your favorite themes on which you base your decorations? (e.g. floral decorations, spooky decorations, etc.)
I like to decorate according to the holiday or season in which we are, but for the most part, with most of my decorations, I like to include trees and many flowers.
What is your favorite city from a decorator’s point of view?
It is very difficult to choose one city, but I like Yalahar because it has white floors hahaha, that helps me so much! You can save so much money on this floor.
However, I definitely prefer Thais because it has always been my city since I started playing Tibia. Besides, it is great, you can bring furniture from Venore, Carlin, and Ab’Dendriel.
What are some of the most challenging aspects of decorating a house in Tibia, and how do you overcome them?
When you have all the items, you think will go well with your decoration, it is very difficult to start to select which items will stay, and which ones will be skipped. It is here when I start to create combinations between items, and I stay with the one I prefer the most.
I also find challenging those that come as fixtures in houses, like trash bins, beer barrels, bars, etc. Those are things that cannot be moved and generally, they do not fit with the decoration, so you have to select an item that can cover them or find a way to include the original item’s shape in the decoration, so it looks well.
Do you think that decorating can be assessed as good and bad or is everything a matter of taste and interpretation?
I think that there are certain features that need to be considered in decoration, such as order, maintenance, and harmony. Maybe I ask for too much, but striving for better has always helped me to improve more each time. I try to make pretty, neat, and functional decorations. Of course, each person has their own taste and preferences, but we know the features that I mentioned are considered by everybody. When you look at a decoration it must cause a first good impression.
How do you balance using rare or expensive items in decoration while keeping it accessible for other players?
I ask players to collect the items that they have and ask them to consider any rare items that they might have in the decoration, besides I ask them which is the budget that they have in mind to spend in the decoration, taking crystal coins and tibia coins into account.
I always start buying the cheapest items such as floors, curtains, and items that are not more expensive than 1kk. After, depending on the remaining budget, I start buying certain expensive items that might enhance the look of the house.
Lastly, I ask for the owner’s opinion, to see if they would like to have something changed, which is where we decide to keep giving more suggestions or leave the decoration as it is. However, that depends on the customer, considering that they would need to add more additional budget, I adapt accordingly to their needs and budget.
What is your favorite house decoration you’ve done of all time?
This house is one of my favorites because of the opportunity I had to decorate with so many rare and fansite items. Also, I loved the way in which I ordered the colors.
Owner: Ruben Delgado
I liked the decorations I used very much, the trees and the few items that there are. It is a very pretty exhibition, in my personal opinion.
Owner: Azeu
Another favorite of mine is this one, there are 3 colors that are united by certain potions, we have a treasured styled type of bed on the right superior side. I liked the image of a monster I made, it looks great!
Owner: Zagnus Ened
Recently in my house, I did this decoration for pride month, this is the LGBT flag, and the NPCs make reference to the pride month march.

What is your favorite contest work you’ve done of all time?
The answer to this question is a long story, so brace yourselves, and maybe make yourselves a cup of coffee, hahaha!
Two weeks ago I was preparing a decoration for a TibiaPal event. I thought about taking plants and furniture from Venore. I asked for help in the advertising chat to drag everything to Carlin. I let in the 3 people that helped me in the house, it turns out that one of them stole a Fansite item from another person, and I knew that he stole it because the owner had warned me.
I tried to recover the Fansite item that this person stole. We were making a deal, as I am a reseller; I asked him to trade me the item first, but he declined. After arguing for a while, he asked me if I collected expensive items, so I told him I did. Then he asked me to show him the items, because he needed to trust me, to finalize the deal. At the end he could not steal anything and he got so mad that the plants that we had brought before, he disintegrated them and all the furniture that were not from the store.
Everything that happened left me very upset and sad at the same time because I could not recover the fansite item, and on top of that the thief has left me with no plants for the event’s decoration.
I had to start from scratch, I brought all the furniture from Venore, Carlin and Ab’dendriel to the house. I started to decorate, and I lost all hope in getting a decoration pretty enough to win any places. It all happened 36 hours before the deadline, I had little time left and I was feeling listless. I put a lot of effort and I really liked the results, I took care of every detail and made many references to the Beaver of Wisdom.
After one week of the event, I received a message from a friend to congratulate me, but I did not open the message that she had sent me (in that moment I found out that I had won, but I did not know what place haha)… So, I ran to the computer immediately, and opened the inbox. I had a parcel with the trophy of first place and the Beaver Of Wisdom.
After all the bitter moments, there was a sweet ending! ❤️️
This decoration is definitely my favorite one, besides it being pretty, it has a story full of emotions and it will be something I will never forget.
What is the most impressive decoration you’ve ever seen made by someone else?
The decorations that impressed me the most are images that can be made piling different sorts of items. I have seen many decorations of this type that Suzy Kill and Paollah from the TibiaHome.com staff have created. I have been very impressed by the creativity and ability of decorating this way.
“Chucky” by Suzy Kill
“Epaminondas” by Paollah (made for the 20th anniversary contest organized by PortalTibia.com.br)
Have you ever collaborated with other players to create a decoration? If so, what was the experience like?
In most of the decorations that I make for my customers, they have contributed by giving their opinions and ideas to complement the idea of the decoration as a whole. But I am the one that has to move the items, I mean, that is for what I get paid, haha
I hope to collaborate with some players that I consider very skillful at decorating in the future. I think that we could share good tips and create something great.
We know that you also decorate houses for other players. How do you handle feedback and requests from players when working on a decoration project for them?
My reputation as a reseller has helped me a lot to have the clients’ confidence to allow me in their houses and trust me with their items. When they write to me for decoration purposes, I give them an estimate of how much I charge for my services, and if they decide to make a deal, I give them a date in which I can go to their houses to decorate, as I am constantly working on other different projects.
When I decorate a house, I always ask for an opinion of what I am making in case the clients want me to modify or include something for decoration. I like it when the outcome goes beyond my clients’ expectations.
How do you balance your style and creativity with meeting the specific requests and preferences of players?
Regularly they give me ideas of the decoration they want, whether it be color, theme, items to be used, areas to include. However, customers do not tell me how they want things to be put in detail, which gives me the freedom to work my way and be more creative.
Would you change anything considering fansite contests based on house decorations?
Yes, and I believe that it is something that certain people have thought, it would be great if a grading table or chart would be added to the events. This could help the results to be more transparent and help us identify in which aspects we can improve as participants.
Are fansites with decoration content also valuable for an experienced decorator?
Of course, they are very important for a decorator. They share content with very useful ideas such as decorations, pictures of other decorations, tutorials and many more things. Besides, the events that are organized are creative challenges for experienced decorators and a reason to encourage more people to begin decorating.
Is there any house-related dream you have? (e.g. a special tapestry? A special house spell?)
There are items that are in different cities as decoration, but cannot be moved, nor do they exist in Store. I would like an item that is the pink version of Feyrist tree.
There is much furniture in the store that I love, but I would like different color options, it would be great to have an ability/spell to modify the furniture color while purchasing, that would definitely be better for the game.
If what has been said is impossible, please Cipsoft allow us to move the rubbish bins, torches, windows, and give us the option of placing floor tiles in the holes in the walls, this is something that bothers some people.
Describe your dream store furniture that you could design on your own.
I would like to see a collection of furniture to create a doll’s house. I would like this to include different couches/sofas, tables, beds, and pink carpets. These are items that every experienced decorator should have.
